Officials Fear Bath Salts are Growing Drug Problem

FULTON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in several states say they're seeing a new street drug with terrifying effects.

Sold as bath salts under such names as Ivory Wave, Red Dove,
Bliss, White Lightning and Hurricane Charlie, authorities say they
contain chemicals that can cause hallucinations, paranoia, rapid
heart rates and suicidal thoughts.

The chemicals are found in bath salts and even plant foods that are sold legally at convenience stores and on the Internet.

Some say the effects of the chemicals are as powerful as abusing methamphetamine.

Increasingly, law enforcement agents and poison control centers say the bath salts with their complex chemical names are an emerging menace, and officials in some states, including Mississippi and Kentucky, are talking about banning their sale.

If we have stores in the area selling this material, identify them, then you'll know just who really "cares" about your kids and community. We all know very few use "bath salts" so if your smiling faces at the local convenience store have racks of these things for sale we can deduce a few things, 1. scented baths are now the new "THING" for 16 yr old boys. 2. Your community has thrown showers out for long floral baths. 3. The chemical make-up is being mis-used by the buyers. 4. The store owners care only about the immediate $$ in from the buyers and not about effects of the products they sell. I'm sure the cashiers believe all the tales of "it's for my gramma" that they get from the pimple faced idiots buying the stuff.

I love to use bath salts! What else are the junkies going to find to use for illegal drugs? Will everything on the shelves be "behind the counter" to be signed for it we buy it?

So is it even bath salt or is it just another junkie material being sold as bath salt? If it is bath salt, who was the first jerk to even try it as anything else. Ive got an opinion or two on it either way but id like to know if it is in fact just a bath salt. whats wrong with soap anyway?

It's all about "If it Generates revenue for the politicians" If it does then it will probably be Legal,If not more than likely it will be banned. A good example of item's that Generates Revenue are Cigarettes and Alcohol products remain legal regardless of the harm done to society.

Just make everything illegal why you are at it; put the small guy out of business. Most people don't even know what this stuff is until media attention enlightens us. Gasoline and glue are the two of the most abused products in the world and I don't see our "concerned authorities" trying to make those products illegal.

I was going to say that this stuff needs to be pulled off of store shelves, but people that don't have any sense to start with are going to find other stuff to take the place of the stuff that they was abusing to start with.If you're going to follow after the crowd and not try to think with your own mind then theres not much any one can do.

Here we go again!Banning something new every day because of IDIOTS.How many people have died from alcohol and cigarettes and when will they get put on the list?Never! You have to draw the line somewhere.Let the natural selection process flow.If you're dumb enough not to know that McDonalds coffee is hot then spill away. It's usually the best way to make sure it doesn't happen again.Next, will the government ban water because some idiot drowns?
