Lawmakers in Louisiana have overwhelmingly supported an abortion bill focused on reducing abortions.
Two committees in the state senate approved it yesterday.
Bill sponsors say the proposal give women the opportunity to listen to the baby's heartbeat before getting an abortion.
The Louisiana version is very similar to a law passed last year in Texas.
It requires doctors to do an ultrasound, describe the baby and play a fetal heartbeat for pregnant women considering abortion.
Opponents say the bill overreaches and that women seeking abortions have already weighed their options.
