Scientists at the Smithsonian say they have discovered a new animal.
The olinguito, looks like something between a house cat and a teddy bear. It weighs about two-pounds and is related to the raccoon. It is found in the forests of Columbia and Ecuador.
The Smithsonian’s Dr. Kristofer Helgen says it is the first discovery of its kind in 35-years.
The Olinguito may be new to science but not to people. At least one from Columbia was shown in several US zoos during the 60’s and 70’s, but zoologists didn’t realize it was a new species.
