Janet Napolitano is resigning as Secretary of Homeland Security.
She will become the president of the University of California.
Napolitano has lead the Department of Homeland Security for four years. She was one of the first cabinet secretaries appointed in the Obama administration.
One of her last appearances as secretary was earlier this week, at the memorial of the 19 fallen Arizona firefighters.
Napolitano released this statement: "The opportunity to work with the dedicated men and women of the Department of Homeland Security, who serve on the frontlines of our nation's efforts to protect our communities and families from harm, has been the highlight of my professional career."
