FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A woman who lived in a hole beneath a beach playground with her two daughters for a couple weeks has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Although a judge sentenced Tammy Kongkham to four years in prison, she will serve about two because she got credit for the 804 days she has already spent in jail.
Fort Lauderdale police say Kongkham and her young daughters spent a couple weeks in the ant-infested hole without anyone noticing. She allegedly abducted the girls from foster care in Philadelphia in October 2008.
On Friday, she pleaded no contest to charges including two felony counts of child neglect and one felony count of desertion.
The two girls have been reunited with their father and live in Pennsylvania.
