Miles College Aims to Become a University

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Miles College President George French says the school is planning to add graduate-level courses and become a university.

French told the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham on Tuesday that Miles is in the process of seeking university status.

He said the Fairfield-based college plans to add master's degree
programs in education and social work.

The college recently doubled the size of its campus by purchasing property once used by a hospital.

French also told the Kiwanis Club that comedian Bill Cosby has
agreed to be the keynote speaker at the school's May 7 graduation
ceremony.
