It wasn't the drive through any customer or employee ever expected.
A Lanham, Maryland Wendy's restaurant is picking up the pieces after a driver of an SUV crashed through the shop and nearly reached the counter just before 9 p.m. on Friday in the 9400 block of Annapolis Road.
"It's shocking to all of us, it's shocking to all of us," Vandora Lee, Wendy's Manager.
Vandora Lee brings breakfast for her employees the morning after an SUV came barreling through her Wendy's restaurant in Lanham.
"They're doing better than expected. But they're shaken up."
She's only managed the restaurant for the past six months and she along with everyone else is shocked no one was seriously injured.
Glass, Chairs and tables went flying.
Two people were taken to the hospital initially, after a patron and an employee suffered non-life threatening injuries.
"The chairs flew all over the place and it hit him in the leg, but he's fine," Lee said.
A second worker was transported to the hospital for anxiety.
There was a steady flow of people on Saturday trying to place orders through the drive through and people were trying to get into the restaurant, but it's closed.
Customer after customer came to the seemingly popular spot surprised at what happened.
"We feel sorry for the victims but this is a good restaurant, we love them too," a customer said.
"The adult male driver was taken into custody and charged on suspicion of DUI," a Prince George's Officer said.
WUSA9 talked with the district manager who says he doesn't know when the restaurant will reopen.
