Man gets life for fatally stabbing wife

MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in
prison for fatally stabbing his wife.

A Miami-Dade judge sentenced 3-year-old Grady Nelson on
Thursday, following a jury's recommendation. Nelson had faces a
possible death sentence after being convicted of first-degree
murder.

The former Miami-Dade County social worker's aide was arrested
in January 2005, following accusations that he had sex with his
wife's 11-year-old mentally disabled daughter. Prosecutors released
Nelson because of inconsistent statements from the girl, and Nelson
went home and stabbed his wife, Angelina Martinez, 61 times. Nelson
also reportedly stabbed the daughter and 9-year-old son, but they
survived.

The defense argued that Nelson suffered from brain damage,
caused by abuse as a child.
