Man Refuses Police Help and Drowns

NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida man who was trying to get away from police died after jumping into the Intracoastal Waterway.

Divers with Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue pulled 33-year-old Shein Shaw from the water early Monday morning.

Riviera Beach police say Shaw had fled from a traffic stop two days earlier and tried to flee again when he saw officers Monday.

Shaw eventually stopped his car near a North Palm Beach condo building and jumped into the nearby water. Officers say Shaw refused to grab life rings they tossed to him or swim to a nearby ladder and eventually went under.

Divers found the body about 40 minutes later. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A woman riding in Shaw's car was not injured. Her name was not released.

I wonder if what he died for was worth it? I guess he could have did something really terrible and it would have came out if he'd gotten caught.
