Man Accused of Running Down Woman Nabbed in Mexico

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- A man accused of running down a 25-year-old southwest Florida woman in 2008 is under arrest in Mexico.

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said Friday that 26-year-old Luis Gonzalez was detained earlier this week by U.S. marshals in El Pedernal, Mexico.

A tip from an "America's Most Wanted" episode led to his arrest.

Gonzalez is accused of running over Tia Poklemba.

She was discovered dying in the middle of an isolated road in a park near Fort Myers in the early morning hours of Aug. 8, 2008.

Investigators said Poklemba had left a nearby bar with Gonzalez.

Evidence at the scene showed she'd been run over twice and left for dead.

Gonzalez is facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and manslaughter.
