Police at the University of Connecticut have evacuated the school's Avery Point Campus in Groton (GRAH'-tuhn) after a man armed with a gun was reported on campus.
An emergency alert was posted on the school's website at about 11:35 p.m. Eastern Monday, ordering an evacuation until further notice.
Police did not say where the alleged gunman was spotted.
The university's website says there is no on-campus housing at Avery Point. Students live in privately owned apartment complexes in Groton.
The Avery Point Campus overlooks Long Island Sound.
