California Winter Storm Brings Roads to a Halt

"Well it is a mess up here in Jamestown. You can see the army of cars lined up hoping to get home. And a lot of these folks live just 3 miles away in Sonora. But this is the problem they don't have four wheel drive so the CHP officer is making them put on chains."

"ha ha ha ha. Well it's not very fun."

"it's frustrating on a lot of levels."

Freezing and frustrated.

"there's blockages everywhere."

The trek through Jamestown on highway 49 in Tuolumne county is slow going.

"Hopefully we'll get home."

Earlier today it was a logjam just getting into town as motorists were victimized by icy roads and snowy conditions.

We're told as many as 100 cars spinning out of control and off the roadways forced the CHP to set up traffic controls.

"Here we go again."

You can't get through highway 49 in Jamestown unless you have four-wheel-drive or chains... No matter how close your house is.

"I only live about 2 miles from here."

"obviously a lot of frustration up here in Tuolumne county... However as they say it's better to be safe than sorry."
