WEST VALLEY, Utah – Police in Utah announced they might have their first credible lead in the disappearance of a West Valley woman.
Susan Powell disappeared nearly two years ago. On Thursday, West Valley Police announced a team of investigators will be flying to Ely, Nevada to search and investigate based on information they’ve received.
At the time of Powell’s disappearance, her husband, Joshua Powell, was not fully cooperative, police said. Powell claimed he last saw his wife on the night of December 6th, 2009. He told police she was at their home when he left with their sons, ages two and four, to go on an overnight camping trip. Powell said when he and their children came home, his wife was missing.
Susan Powell’s family and friends doubted the story. They said Susan would have never left without her children.
West Valley Police said they’ve gained credible information that needs following. They plan to search the Ely, Nevada area on Friday.
Josh Powell and his children are currently living in his home state of Washington.
