One Dead, Two Wounded in Hostage Standoff

A standoff in Louisiana ends with two people in critical condition and a suspect dead.

A hostage standoff that began early Tuesday afternoon has ended. Authorities say a man took two women and a man captive about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tensas State Bank branch in St. Joseph. Louisiana He later released one of the female hostages.

State police officials say that during negotiations...the suspect said he was going to kill the remaining hostages. Law enforcement entered the building just before midnight. The suspect shot the two hostages before being shot and killed by state police.
The hostages were taken from the scene and are in critical condition.
