Home Prices Rise for First Time in 7 Months

We're getting a little good news about the housing market today.

A new report shows home prices rose in April for the first time in seven months.

The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index found prices were up 1.3 percent in 20 major markets.

Still, the report found prices are down nearly two percent compared to last year.

Real estate prices had hit new post-bubble lows in March.

Today's news follows other positive news on housing.

Government data for May showed new homes sales were up 7.6 percent.

And mortgage rates hit record lows last week.
