Ga Man Arrested After Pit Bull Shot in Face

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) -- Police say a Georgia man is being held without bond after officers found a pit bulldog with a gunshot wound to the face in Columbus.

Authorities say 22-year-old Anthony Rogers of Columbus is charged with animal cruelty. Another man was given a court summons on similar charges but wasn't arrested.

Police Sgt. Art Sheldon tells the Ledger-Enquirer that officers received a report of gunshots early Monday and went to a home shared by Rogers and the other man.

Officers found three dogs in a cage without food, water or shelter.

One of the animals had what officers say was a shotgun wound to its muzzle.

Aside from animal cruelty, Rogers is charged with a gun violation. He remains in jail.

Sheldon says officers seized all three dogs.

Its people like this that should be shot. The world is already bad enough without some idiot shooting a poor helpless animal. Yes it was a pitbull but it does not matter,I know they have a bad reputation but that still gives noone the right to shoot it. Any dog can be dangerous not just a pitbull.
