ATLANTA (AP) - Hundreds of bikers turned out to help raise money to support the family of a Georgia state trooper who was killed on the job.
WSB-TV reports that the Memorial Ride for Trooper Chad Lecroy began at Charlie Brown airport in south Fulton County just before noon Saturday.
The money raised is to be donated to Lecroy's family. His high school sweetheart and widow, Keisha, said she was overwhelmed by the support.
Lecroy was 38 when he was shot in the neck during a traffic stop in December. The man accused in his slaying is in jail awaiting trial.
Lecroy had been a trooper less than two years at the time of his death. He quit a construction job to become an officer to earn more money to support his family.
