If you are eligible for Medicare, you may also be eligible for a free physical.
Starting this year, first-time enrollees will be offered free physicals, courtesy of the new affordable care act.
It will only be offered during a person's first year of enrollment in Part B, and the doctor must agree to be paid directly by Medicare.
Annual checkups, which Medicare calls wellness exams, will still be offered after a person has been enrolled for 12 months.
They, too, will be free if the doctor accepts payment from Medicare.
It's all part of an effort to focus on preventive medicine, rather than trying to fix problems after they arise.
