The Fresno Fire Department responded to a large fire on 1/6/13 at 3:28 am. The first engine company was dispatched as a single resource to a possible bus fire at 2805 S East Ave. (near Annadale).

When the engine company arrived at the property which is used by First Student (private contract buses for Fresno Unified) they observed multiple buses on fire and requested additional fire resources. A total of five engines, two ladder trucks, two battalion chiefs, and an investigator responded to the fire with 29 firefighters.

Sixteen buses were badly damaged by fire and four additional buses sustained moderate fire damage. The fire crews were actively involved in firefighting operations for approximately 40 minutes with the fire declared under control at 4:08 am.

The fire cause is still under investigation and the damage estimate will be quite expensive.

There are no reports of injuries.
