Italian automaker Fiat says it wants to buy the U.S. government's remaining six percent stake in Chrysler.
Chrysler would be free of government ownership if the deal goes through.
This week Chrysler repaid seven and a half billion dollars in bailout loans the company got from the U.S. and Canada.
