EVANS, Ga. (AP) -- The father of a 17-year-old boy killed last week when he was hit by an SUV in Evans is pushing to lower the speed limit on the road where his son died.
Gordon Morin tells the Augusta Chronicle (http://bit.ly/LhHrNk ) that he is starting a petition to lower the 55 mph speed limit along Hereford Farm Road where Cory Allan Morin was hit Tuesday as he walked to a friend's house.
He is asking residents to bring their concerns to him June 30 at 10 a.m. at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
Authorities say the driver of the SUV was not at fault and will not be charged in the accident. The teen died Wednesday at an Augusta hospital.
