FAA Proposes Fine Against Pemco in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration has proposed a $170,000 penalty against Pemco World Air Services in

The FAA says the penalty includes the company allegedly failing
to administer pre-employment drug tests to two individuals the company hired for safety-sensitive positions.

It also says Pemco failed to complete required drug tests for eight others.

Pemco said it no longer uses the vendor who was administering
drug tests and the two employees began company training, but not
safety sensitive work, a few days before their negative drug tests
were received.

Pemco said it doesn't believe there was a material shortfall in safety procedures, and it is working with the FAA to clarify whether the fine is warranted.
