Today marks the eight year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
The storm forever changed New Orleans when it made landfall in 2005. It left more than 1,500 people dead and damaged 200,000 homes. Millions of Gulf Coast residents were displaced.
Katrina is considered the costliest disaster in the history of the Global Insurance Industry.
The Federal Government has spent $120.5 billion on the gulf region since the storm. $75 billion of that went to emergency relief operations.
