EPA: Nation's Drinking Water System Needs Upgrade

The Environmental Protection Agency says the nation's drinking water systems are deteriorating.

The group says $384 billion needs to be spent in the next 17 years to maintain a safe supply.

The EPA says the most significant expense should go to replacing aging pipes.

The agency has conducted this survey every four years since 1995.

But despite increasing needs, the EPA says the nation's water supply safety is far from being compromised.
