FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Drug trafficking charges have been dropped against a Florence psychiatrist and his wife.
Police arrested Dr. William Roddy and his wife, Wendy Sue Roddy, in Huntsville last March after police found them at a hotel with a gun, a large amount of cash and prescription narcotics.
The Madison County district attorney's office asked to have the charges dropped last week and a judge agreed.
Roddy and his attorney said the psychiatrist had a right to carry the prescriptions because he's a licensed doctor and he had a
permit for the gun.
The cash was to buy a car for a son who was about to turn 16.
Roddy told the TimesDaily that the last nine months have been worse than a nightmare, but his patients remained loyal.
