MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- A Mobile-area doctor faces federal prison and deportation after being convicted of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a teenage boy.
A jury convicted Dr. Murali Krishna Aalabasavaraja Reddy after a one-day trial on Monday.
The Mobile Press-Register reports the 30-old year-old Reddy was doing a residency in pediatric medicine at the University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital when police arrested him in May.
A Saraland police officer investigating child sex crimes testified that he posed as a 15-year-old boy and responded to Reddy's ad seeking "younger guys" on Craigslist. That led to the man's arrest.
Reddy faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, and he would likely be deported to his native India after finishing the term.
A defense lawyer indicates he will appeal.
