SHANGHAI (AP) -- ConocoPhillips says it has cleaned up 99 percent
of the oil released in offshore spills in China's Bohai Bay and will meet a deadline to finish its cleanup by Tuesday.
Of numerous seeps found in the Penglai 19-3 oilfield, only two were still visible and known to be sometimes active, the company said in a statement.
It said about 1 to 2 liters (a quarter to a half-gallon) of oil and drilling mud were being released each day and that damage to the environment was minimal.
