Christmas is coming early to some stores.

Several retailers are starting their big sales now.

The Taylor family is already shopping for holiday gifts.

"It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping," says shopper Teresa Taylor.

Retailers agree and several big names are cutting prices earlier than ever a full four weeks early!

Black Friday is traditionally the day after Thanksgiving, when stores slash prices to bring in the crowds.

But with a sour economy retailers are getting a jumpstart for some shoppers, it's too early.

"I think we need to give Halloween and Thanksgiving a chance before we worry about Christmas shopping,” says one shopper.

JC Penney is not buying it.

Its holiday deals start next week.

Wal-Mart, Target and online retailer Amazon are also cutting prices now.

"That’s scary, but our economy needs it," says shopper Jill Stimart.

Careful consumers are making their list and checking it twice.

Americans are expected to spend just 2% more than last year, the worst holiday shopping season in a decade.

"I think smart shoppers will start to buy now," says WSL Strategic Retail’s Wendy Liebmann.

Starting now means you'll have more time to hunt for bargains and comparison shop.

"Its better you can save more money, you can work the circulars,” says Taylor.

But what about all those last minute shoppers?

"There will be other interesting offers throughout the whole season,” says Leibmann

And that season just got a lot longer.

Nearly two-thirds of on-line retailers expect sales to jump at least 15%.
