NEW YORK (AP) -- The children of an abused woman acquitted of shooting her retired police officer husband to death have published a book about their mother's ordeal.
"In Bed With the Badge: The Barbara Sheehan Story" tells the story of the Sheehan family. It details Barbara's life and descent into abuse and despair, and includes recollections of her children Raymond and Jennifer and family friends who witnessed the abuse.
Raymond and Jennifer say they wanted to write the book to help victims of domestic violence before it's too late.
Their father, Raymond Sheehan, a former New York Police Department sergeant, was shot to death in February 2008.
Changing Lives Press is the publisher. The book costs $24.99. It goes on sale Tuesday, and will also be out as an e-book.
