Charges Dropped in NYC Hamster Killing Case

NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities have dropped charges against a New
York City teenager accused of killing her younger brother's
hamster.

The Brooklyn district attorney's office on Friday cited "inconsistent statements from the witnesses" in dropping the charges.

The 19-year-old was accused of choking and squeezing the 4-ounce
hamster named Sweetie in June, before throwing it to the floor. It
was later tossed across the street. The teen was arrested Tuesday
night.

She told the New York Daily New that she did not kill the hamster.

The case was investigated by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The ASPCA said in a statement Friday that it stood by its investigation. The organization said it was saddened that there would be no prosecution in the animal's death.

This is about over the top.If the animal protectors had their way.Every animal would be protected we couldn't even kill a cow for meat. The hamster was probably all ready dead and the 19 year old pretented to kill it as a prank. Get a grip people. It's a wonder people are not hauled in to jail for accidently running over a rabbit.

Who cares? If convicted, this 19 yr old would have probably served more time than a child molester. How screwed up is that?
