Better late than never certainly rings true in this case.
A long overdue book is finally returned to a San Francisco Library branch decades later.
The book "American Cooking: Creole and Acadian" was due 37 years ago.
It has finally been turned in at the Presidio library branch.
The book still had the original checkout slip, too.
Branch manager Megan Anderson says the cook book was returned by someone named "KC" in San Rafael.
They had a note apologizing for being so late and there's a little printed date due slip showing that this was originally due in 1974 with it's charge that it would be 10-cents fine if the slip was lost from the pocket. And when they returned it, there it was in its pocket.
Anderson says there won't be any fine in this case because the branch had another copy of the book all this time.
