Big crowds came out for the 2010 Drive for Show, Rock Fore! Dough concert at First Tee of Augusta. (April 6, 2010 / WRDW-TV)
GRAND ISLE, La. (AP) - Even as part of the Coast Guard stationed here and the rest of the oil cleanup equipment left the island, trucks were trucking in portable toilets, ice and other supplies for the big concert to be held on the beach.
Petty Officer Sara Francis said about 50 Coast Guard personnel located in the extreme tip of the island, which is prone to flooding, left early Saturday morning. She said the 50 remaining would just "hunker down" unless the storm intensified.
Police Chief Euris DoBois says high tide passed with no road flooding, so he expected visitors to be able to travel to and from the island without road closures. Much of Louisiana Highway 1, the only road on and off the island, is below sealevel and floods during storms.
