BP's chief operating officer was in Dauphin Island Thursday.
Doug Suttles says that although the company's success in stopping the flow of oil is a great sight, it isn't cause for celebration.
He went on to say the effort to permanently stop the flow of oil is "far from the finish line" and cautioned that the flow could resume.
BP should know more about the effort within 48 hours.
The cap is designed to be a stopgap fix until a permanent plug is injected underground.
