Twenty-two newly-hatched baby turtles have been released into the Atlantic near the Kennedy Space Center.

They're the first of about 7,000 rescued from the Gulf as eggs.

Under normal circumstances one-in-1,000 would survive, but scientists say all would surely die in the oil-infested waters of the Gulf.

Now these hatchlings have a fighting chance.
