East Gets Hot This Week

NEW YORK (AP) - It's not the type of weather he's used to back home, but one tourist from Minnesota was able to make his visit to New York's Times Square more tolerable -- with a wet washcloth over his head and a water bottle in hand.

Temperatures have reached into the 90s or higher from Maine to Texas.

Forecasters say the warm air sitting over the East coast is going to stay put for a couple of days.

This summer is already hotter than last year. In June 2009, the average temperature at Central Park was 75 degrees. This year, it was 83 degrees.

And last summer, the temperature didn't hit 90 degrees until August.
