3 die, 1 hurt in boat crashes in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Three people have died and one person has
been hurt in two boat crashes in South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported the crashes occurred late Saturday night on Lake Murray northwest of Columbia.

The first crash happened between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday
and killed Kelli Nichole Bullard of Lexington and 24-year-old Amber
Golden of Woodville, Ala.

Officials say about 30 minutes later, 22-year-old Matthew Kyle
Howk of Columbia died after his 14-foot fishing boat hit a 23-foot
craft less than a mile from the first collision.

Lt. Robert McCullough with the Natural Resources Department says
a second person on the fishing boat was critically injured.

That person's name has not been released.

McCullough says the deaths are the first on Lake Murray this year.
