PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona authorities say a Georgia man has been arrested after more than 480 pounds of marijuana were found in the
commercial vehicle he was driving.
An Arizona Department of Public Safety patrol officer stopped the truck Thursday afternoon on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix for an equipment violation and safety inspection.
With the assistance of a Phoenix police narcotics canine, officers located 481 pounds of marijuana stored in luggage within the truck's sleeper berth. Authorities say the marijuana had an estimated street value of more than $264,000.
They say 35-year-old Tommy Lee Pinkins, of Moultrie, Ga., was booked into Maricopa County Jail on charges of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale and illegal control of an enterprise.
