13year-old attempts to climb Everest

MOUNT EVEREST (AP) - At age 13, Jordan Romero would be the youngest climber ever to conquer Mount Everest, and he's having a
ball trying.

In an interview from a base camp on his way up, he told the Associated Press it's been a goal since he was a toddler.

Jordan says Mount Everest won't be his last conquest. He's going for the highest peak on each of the 8 continents and this will be his seventh, so he says "we still have Antarctica to do after this."

He says his latest experience has been "super nice" so far. He says just visiting Tibet is not something that many kids his age get to do.

The teen from Big Bear, California, says he thinks the real challenge is going "six weeks without soda and fast food."
