2 Fla. Students Killed Exploring Ga. Cave

LaFAYETTE, Ga. (AP) - Two students from the University of Florida have died after rappelling into a cave in northwest Georgia.

Walker County Coroner Dewayne Wilson said two men entered
Ellison's Cave on Saturday in the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area near LaFayette.

One man called up for help after jumping down a drop. Wilson
said a second man then went down. Their friends above did not hear
any noise afterward, so they went for help.

Wilson said there was water in the cave and it appears the victims died of hypothermia. Autopsies were planned to determine the exact cause of death.

The coroner said other people have been injured in the 600-foot-deep cave before.
