2 Children Dead from Accidental Smothering

Gainesville, Fla. (AP) - Two small children died in unrelated cases in north Florida after authorities say adults rolled on top of them while they were sleeping.

Gainesville police arrested 23-year-old Anthony Scott Enclarde Tuesday and charged him with manslaughter.

Police say Enclarde and his 14-month-old son, Ashton, had been sleeping in the same bed, and Enclarde woke up on top of the boy.

A roommate called 911, and the boy was pronounced dead at a hospital two days later.

Enclarde was being held without bail.

Last week, 33-year-old Todd Jeremy Metten was arrested and
charged with manslaughter in the death of his 6-month-old niece,
Alyssa Catherine Metten.

Metten was later released on $75,000 bail.

Both incidents occurred on Jan. 10.

Barbara, you still ramble on and on and spew your sewage. Some of us have come to the conclusion that "barbaras" cannot be trusted to have a sane thought in their heads and this proves us right... yes it looks just exactly how yours still does. People get arrested all the time for ACCIDENTS, those that can think know this, you can run over a pedestrian you didn't see running to make the crossing light, you may not plan it, it may have been a total surprise, but guess what... you're going to be charged. The same happens for child endangerment, as are the cases here. And here you go running your mouth off about men cannot do things right, apparently because they didn't plan things out, like those women killers did.

im sure these men did not MEAN to kill these precious babies! what i dont understand is how can you roll on top of a 14 month old and not feel his lil body under you?? i lost a nephew almost a yr old by suffocation (not by a person) its the worst pain a parent or relative can imagine! i pray for these men and these families! but for the record, i am not for children sleeping with their parents that is what cribs are made for!!!

Well,Jerald, When one decides to put a plan of murder into play, regardless of how vile it is--and thus carries it out, they did do it right. However, these men set forth no such plan. They accentially killed their relatives----I think they were arrested because they were--drunk, maybe on drugs.-- about the same reason D.U.I. people get arrested for running over someone and they recieve the man slaughter charge. People that unintentionally kill someone when they are under the influence of some substance are neglectant and can be charged.

Well Jerald,Maybe it was insenitive of me to voice my opinions about men. It says this was a accidental suffucation but the men were arrested, Why? The women you made referance to did their crimes intentionally.

poor barbara, I assume you think these WOMEN did it right then ? Andrea Yates, who drowned her kids in the tub. or how about Susan Smith, the one that put ther kids in the car and rolled it into a lake. Or perhaps this one, Amanda bennet, shooting her three kids and dog, then burning the house. Did those women do it right according to your brain dead assertion? You have the right to be stupid, quit abusing that right.

This story is an excuse to add more government control into people's lives. How about the millions of babies who sleep with their parents every night, such as my own 3 did, and are just fine? People will let the media control their every single thought. Live in fear people, live in fear. I am sorry for the kids and for the parents/uncle this happened to.

If this was an accident then why in the world would they be arrested? My son sleeps with me every night! Barbara, you need to think about what you post on here before it's out there for everyone to read. Please get a life!

I've always said you can't trust men to do anything right, and this proves it.

These fathers are going to suffer for the rest of their lives knowing they were the cause of their childs death. That is a punishment I as a father connot imagine. They DON'T need government coming down on them also.If they did it on purpose, charge them with murder. If not, leave them alone.I guess there is no such thing as an accident anymore.Of corse the government makes money any way they can.

So now we are prosecuting parents and relatives for this kind of thing? Don't we have enough REAL criminals to deal with? Absolutely ridiculous. These people didn't mean to kill these kids. And they should be called murderers...How horrible for these folks...They have to live with it the rest of their lives...you think that's punishment enough?
