Health officials in Washington have decided to delay open enrollment in private health insurance under Obamacare.
This is according to a Department of Health and Human Services official, who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.
The official says HHS has moved the start of open enrollment from October 15th to November 15th, 2014. And it's extended the sign-up period from roughly seven weeks to eight.
The department wants to give insurers, consumers and engineers more time for enrollment. It's a bid to avoid the first go-around's site crashes, coverage train wrecks and cost surprises.
