Trees bend in half under the weight of the ice that has coated Barnwell, South Carolina for the past few days. Cars swerve to avoid downed trees and utitlty crews work to repair power lines in a region fraught with power outages. Even a proud American flag is frozen in ice, wrapped around a frigid pole.

Octopus vs. Camera (KMFB/CBS)

An octopus at bluefish cove in Carmel apparently does not like the paparazzi.

An eight-armed *highlight* -- experienced in the shallow depths of Blue Fish Cove at Point Lobos state reserve in Carmel earlier this month.

And La Jolla native David Malvestuto - who now lives in the bay area -- and his diving partner Warren Murray... Were *not* disappointed, as they came face to face with a giant pacific octopus!

And, as Murray, a diving photographer, started to capture the magnificent sighting.

His *subject matter* apparently had other ideas.

An underwater tussle which lasted for a few tense moments.
