Unofficial Holiday of September 25th: National Comic Book Day

They've been an enduring medium for stories of all genres for many decades—comic books. And, today is an unofficial holiday that celebrates all of them: National Comic Book.

September 25th is an unofficial holiday celebrating the comic book. Primarily, comic books in modern times are known for superhero adventures: Marvel's Spider-Man and X-Men, DC's Batman and Superman and many more.

However, from the past to now, comic books have also told romance, comedy, fantasy, science fiction and many more. There are comic books that have adapted popular licenses such as Star Trek and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic among many others.

They come in many different art styles and can range from a short tale of a few pages to a sprawling, epic tale spread across numerous issues.
