Every day this week, News 4 This Morning is taking a look back at a pair of popular toys from decades past.

Originally known as "Little People," Cabbage Patch Kids were created by Xavier Roberts. They are uniquely-designed dolls. Each one comes with a birth certificate and are available as both boys and girls. Demand for Cabbage Patch Kids was extremely high in 1983, and some stores only had hundreds with thousands of customers wanting to purchase one. This led to what was called the Cabbage Patch Riots, where fights and scuffles broke out. Supply was much higher by 1984.

Smaller than both Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, MIcro Machines were first introduced by Galoob in 1982. They included cars, trucks, vans, and other vehicles. Some of those had small playsets to go with those vehicles. In later years, there were also branded Micro Machines of franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars.
