The first two Superman films starring Christopher Reeve were financial and critical successes and still beloved by many comic fans to this day.
On June 17th, 1983, the third Superman film, simply titled Superman III, was released and featured the return of Reeve as Superman.
Instead of Lex Luthor of General Zod, Superman faced off against a computer genius played by comedian Richard Pryor.
Although the film made back its budget, its considered weaker than its predecessors, mainly for its reliance of comedy elements.
Superman III would be followed by one more sequel starring Reeve in 1987, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
