Batman Beyond debuted on the Kids WB lineup on January 10th, 1999. It was created by many of the crew that worked on the successful Batman and Superman animated series of the 1990s. In fact, this animated series was in the same continuity of that show, including having an elder Batman voiced by the same voice actor.

The series had Terry McGinnis don a futuristic cape and cowl, complete with a flight suit, sensors, and other futuristic tech decades after the original animated Batman series.

The series got acclaim from fans and critics and would go to three seasons and 52 episodes, as well as a direct-to-video movie.

More shows in the same continuity, together called the “DC Animated Universe,” came later including Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.
