Spongebob Anniversary – May 1st marked the 15th anniversary of the animated TV series, Spongebob Squarepants. The series continues going strong, with a 10th season confirmed as well as an upcoming theatrical movie on the way.

First Pacific Tropical System – The Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season begins on May 15th, and not long after that, a Tropical Depression formed that would become Amanda. The storm became a fierce Category 4 storm, but dissipated before making a direct landfall.
