My Little Pony: Equestria Girls saw a limited release in theatres before coming to Blu-Ray and DVD in 2013. The movie was based on the recent hit animated series, Friendship is Magic. The storyline involved the lead character, Princess Twilight Sparkle, venturing into the human world to retrieve a magical crown stolen by a new adversary, Sunset Shimmer.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic began its fourth season late in 2013, after many months of what fans called the “pony drought.” It drew high ratings for the series on the Hub Network. The two-part season premiere, “Princess Twilight Sparkle,” kicked off a 26-episode season that will continue well into 2014.

The long-running Nickelodeon animated series, Spongebob Squarepants, continued into its ninth season in 2013. Part of that season was the full-episode-length special, “Spongebob, You’re Fired.” In the special, the title character is fired by his boss and must deal with unemployment and trying to find a new job. Although the ninth season has yet to conclude, a tenth season for the cartoon has already been confirmed.

Three-year-old Mary Williams wasn’t excited at first when her parents told her she was going to Disneyworld. Mary was named an ambassador to Mobile, and ended up having a great time at Disneyworld after all!

The independent developer Wayforward began an online fundraiser through Kickstarter in 2013 to help fund a new video game, Shantae: Half Genie Hero. Fans of the franchise and of the company supported the drive in droves, well passing the $400,000 goal needed to have the game made. Those who donated were able to get perks such as artwork, music, and the game itself once it is completed. That game will be coming to all major video gaming platforms in 2014.

In 2005, after 18 years of continuous production spanning four television series, the production of Star Trek television series ended. This came after the United Paramount Network, or UPN cancelled the series Enterprise after only four seasons. 2014 will mark nine years since star trek has been on television. But, earlier in 2013, the Star Trek fans began a petition for Netflix to produce a fifth season of enterprise. All of the original Star Trek series are currently on the streaming video service, which is also producing several original series of its own. Some cast and crew said they'd love to do it again, but no deal has been made to make this or another Star Trek TV series, at least....not yet.

Some of that art depicted the characters and situations from the show, others put unique spins on the News 4 This Morning “OC” or Original Character while still others drew the Morning Show crew as ponies!
