CW Network Block Change Marks End of Over-The-Air Saturday Morning Cartoons

They were a staple of television for decades, but as of this September, the traditional programming block of Saturday morning cartoons will be coming to an end.

Saturday Morning Cartoons date back decades, to the days of Hanna-Barbera staples like Huckleberry Hound through 70s hits like SuperFriends, and the big hits of the 90s like Animaniacs. Since the 1990s, various broadcast networks have been switching out their programming for more live-action fare to fit in with the E/I requirements of the FCC.

In a report from Toonzone [Links, 1], as of September 2014, the final block of cartoons on Saturday morning on broadcast network comes to an end as the syndicated Vortexx block, featuring animated series like Digimon and Justice League Unlimited, is replaced by One Magnificent Morning, featuring live-action shows about wildlife and fashion.
