Headland's New City Council Member

Headland residents may see a new face at their next city council meeting.

Michael Roland has joined Headland''s City Council.

He takes the place of John Mellown who moved out of the district..

He will serving Headland's District 3 .

Roland says he is up for the challenge and ready to move the city forward.

"The sports aspect has always been my passion up here and I have three boys and going along with that we hosted the state tournament last year and that was a huge success for a town of our size so I figure we can move forward with that," said Roland.

Mayor Ray Marler recommended Roland for the position.

He was elected February 4th.

Houston County Commissioner Running For Re-election

The District One Commissioner made the announcement at Monday's commission meeting.

Harvey was first elected to the seat in 2005.

If re-elected, Commissioner Harvey says he's already got some things on his agenda.

"I would like to form some type of forum where the entire community can come together. Not just district one, district one, two, three and four can come together and we can talk about real issues, build maybe what i call a multiracial dialogue together, " says Harvey.

Alabama's primary election is June 3rd.
